I have looked extensively at Tools > Manage add-ons > Add-on Types, and see nothing that one might not expect on any other "normal" Windows 7 machine using IE11. To answer your question, I have not added any superfluous add-ons ("blocks of concrete") in IE11. The truth is, I don't know if I can "live with" that delay if I purchase the Norton Security product. And, naturally, I wanted to know if former users of NIS noticed the same "delay" using Norton Security with IE11. Don't get me wrong-I appreciate how NIS protects my computer from "the bad guys." But this issue causing a lengthy delay in opening the browser and/or new tabs to it (again- my opinion) detracts from NIS's performance, and in a very negative way. That is what leads me to believe there is no doubt the Norton add-ons are "to blame" for the issue. In fact, I'd say, that virtually eliminates the delay. If I disable Toolbar and Identity Protection (which is obviously NOT the desirable option), the delay in opening, populating, and adding new tabs decreases dramatically. Today, the delay showed 6.4 seconds (a much more accurate depiction). (Now, I need to visit the NS board and research a new issue-the Logins menu on Norton Security's Identity Safe Vault feature doesn't "drop down" when you hover the mouse.)į4E, thanks. So, I'm going to mark this thread "solved" because this was, honestly, the only "solution" that seemed to make any significant difference for me: Anyway.I finally got it "snapped" to the top line of the browser, and it seems to be responding well.pretty brief startup times, and new browser tabs also open pretty quickly. Once I had it configured initially (it seemed almost impossible to get the Norton Toolbar to STAY on the top line along with the standard IE11 menu it kept wanting to "snap down" to the second line when I right-clicked Lock the toolbars).
After that, I deleted a few folders in C:\Program Files (x86) and shortcuts in the All Programs menu that the NRT apparently "forgot." Next, I turned the computer off, restarted the router, turned the computer back on, and immediately downloaded and installed Norton Security (2015?). Then, I used the Norton Removal Tool (NRT). First thing this morning, I turned on my computer, then unplugged the router. And it was sluggish (load times almost always exceeding 5 seconds, occasionally 15-20 seconds) all the way up until I uninstalled NIS, which was this morning. To the best of my knowledge, that is the most current version of IE11. Yank, I'm using Windows 7 SP1 with IE11 version.
